Division of Property
California is a community property state. In most cases, property, assets, income, and debts that are acquired during the marriage are considered community property. The overall division of this property will be roughly equal. However, property that was acquired previous to the marriage or as a gift or inheritance will not be considered in the property division. I approach my clients' property concerns in a creative and active manner. There may be ways of dividing property not previously considered, and I am adept at exploring different options.

Spousal Support
Spousal support (alimony) is not awarded in every situation, and is dependent upon many factors. The courts will consider matters such as the length of the marriage, the lifestyle established during marriage, property division, and other factors. Temporary spousal support may be awarded.
